Mozilla launched Firefox 8, within two months after launching Firefox 7. Also beta version of Firefox 9 is available and it is in testing phase.
Firefox 8 released with few new feature and better add-one management. You can use Firefox for better Performance, Security and better customization. The most awaiting thing is “Twitter search integration” for twitter lover. It also supports Windows, Linux, Mac, and mobile Firefox for Android. Mozilla’s rapid release cycle in 2011 contains Firefox 4, Firefox 5, Firefox 6, Firefox 7, Firefox 8 and Firefox 9 beta version.
Mozilla Firefox is a free and open source web browser managed by Mozilla Corporation. Firefox is the second most widely used browser, with approximately 25% of worldwide usage share of web browsers. Mozilla Firefox browser is widely success in Germany and Africa, where it is the most popular browser with 50% and 35% usage respectively.
Mozilla explained in its blog post that with the inclusion of Twitter search in Firefox 8, “Twitter search in Firefox makes it easier to discover new topics, #hashtags, and usernames.” Languages supported for the new Twitter search function are English, Portuguese, Slovenian, and Japanese, but the company will release versions for other languages in the future.
If you want to install Firefox 8 in Linux run these command in Terminal.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mozillateam/firefox-stable
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install firefox language-pack-en language-pack-en-base
or download the tar file (always check latest and stable version)
$ wget ‘http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefoxVERSION&os=linux&lang=en-US’
Unzip the downloaded file
tar -jxvf firefox-3.0.tar.bz2
and start Firefox
$ /opt/firefox/firefox &
You can also download Debian file from Mozilla server and install them in Linux using “tar” .
Installing Firefox in windows is not a rocket science so do it as previously you did.
